Versta President Elected to American Marketing Association Board
June 30, 2011
The American Marketing Association in Chicago announced election results and key appointments for its 2011-2012 Board of Directors, the official governing body of the chapter that manages all business and property of the chapter. Joseph Hopper, currently president of Versta Research was elected by the general membership to serve as Vice President of Market Research.
During the 2010-2011 programming year, Dr. Hopper served as director of the market research special interest group (SIG) for the chapter. “The untapped potential for market research within the AMA on a national level and in Chicago is huge,” Hopper said. “In just a few months we revitalized the usability of research within the chapter, and quadrupled the number of members who are contributing their market research expertise to our programming.”
One important initiative for the year will be to have market research perspectives integrated into all aspects of AMA programming, instead of market research being a special interest group, Hopper said. “Our work is not just about methods and statistics, but learning how to answer real marketing problems with research, and then communicating research findings back to the marketing experts who use them. The American Marketing Association is the perfect organization to develop this kind of expertise and learning because it is the only professional association that brings together all marketing functions in all types of industries and organizations.”
