I Wrote a Poem about Market Research using ChatGPT. Clever, Amazing, and Interesting. But Is It Poetry?
This is my first foray into testing the powers of AI and wondering how we might use it in market research.
I was inspired by a LinkedIn post from an actuary who was deeply impressed by a poem that ChatGPT wrote about actuaries. I was impressed, too. So I asked it to write a poem about market researchers. Not that we use poems in market research – but this is a fun experiment for me to get started.
Here it is:
In the realm where insights thrive and data gleams,
Reside the silent heroes behind the scenes.
With keen eyes and curious minds, they embark,
Into the world of markets, cold and dark.
Market researchers, seekers of truth,
Explorers of trends and consumer sleuths,
They dive deep into the ocean of desires,
Uncovering the secrets that the market conspires.
They capture the whispers of the target’s voice,
Unraveling mysteries with meticulous choice.
Through surveys, interviews, and careful observation,
They unearth patterns and unlock revelation.
With their questions as compass, they navigate,
Through the labyrinth of consumer’s intricate state.
Demographics, psychographics, the numbers come alive,
Painting portraits of personas that help businesses thrive.
From young dreamers chasing stars in the sky,
To seasoned souls seeking comfort, oh so high,
The market researchers seek to understand,
The diverse minds that shape the market’s grand.
They build personas, each with a unique face,
Stories woven to capture the human race.
With names and histories, these personas stand,
Representing customer segments in the grandest hand.
Armed with knowledge, market researchers arise,
To guide the decision-makers, oh so wise.
Their insights illuminate the path to success,
Enlightening businesses, no more to guess.
In boardrooms and offices, their presence known,
Their findings and recommendations finely honed.
They shape strategies with precision and might,
Transforming data into opportunities bright.
But beyond the charts and graphs, lies a beating heart,
Of market researchers, masters of their art.
For in their pursuit of knowledge untold,
They aim to create experiences worth more than gold.
So let us raise a toast to these unsung guides,
Whose work in the shadows, the market provides.
Market researchers, we salute your quest,
For you shape the world we call the market’s crest.
I am impressed. This is clever and amazing. It is pulling in appropriate content, and putting it into iambic verse. It is amusing, and it made me smile.
But is this poetry? I vote no.
Not being an expert in poetry, I asked ChapGPT to tell me what poetry is. Here is the answer I got:
Poetry is a form of artistic expression that utilizes language, rhythm, and imagery to evoke emotions, convey ideas, and create aesthetic experiences. It is characterized by its unique structure, creative use of words, and often employs techniques such as metaphor, symbolism, and rhyme. Poetry can take various forms, including sonnets, haikus, free verse, and spoken word, among others. It goes beyond mere communication and aims to evoke deeper thoughts and feelings, inviting readers or listeners to engage with the language and experience the beauty and power of words. Poetry is subjective and open to interpretation, allowing individuals to connect with it on a personal and emotional level.
Yeah, based on this, I vote no.
